Palms Bistro Buffet

While I’m not one to complain too terribly about a buffet, this one put me over the edge.

My girlfriend Kelly and I went to the Bistro Buffet at the Palms Resort over Valentines Day weekend, We thought we’ d stop in for an early lunch before heading home to watch some NASCAR Nationwide Series racing.

Once we got there, we thought we would sign up for the Palms Players club and get a little discount on our lunch. When we got to the buffet, I handed the cashier our players cards and waited for her to ring us up a nice couple of dollars off our lunch. That didn’t happen! You see, we neglected to be informed by the players club representative that we couldn’t use an empty card for any discounts like at the other casinos around town. So we paid full lunch price and walked in to be seated.

So much for new and improved. I can say NEW, but improved? I hope hey didn’t mean literally, because if this buffet is improved, I would have hated to have been a customer before they did any improvements.

The place was nice, it was a clean, bare, sanitary looking nice you would find an a newly remodelled college or hospital cafeteria. It was very clean, very narrow, and very, how would you say? boring. For the Palms, the upscale, hip, kitchy went out the window on this place. I’m sorry Mr. Maloof you could have done better.

The food, was, how can I say this……..bland, if at par. I’ve had allot better, for less dough than they expect at some of the “low” end casino joints around town. I hate to admit it, but if you can’t beat Arizona Charlies Buffet, you better  in Gordon Ramsey’s key phrase “Shut It Down” because it’s not worth it’s weight in little tough beefy medallions in some sort of dark, slimy, gravy concoction.

The Deserts? they were quite yummy. About the only thing they didn’t screw up, besides the automatic latte/coffee dispensing machine.
